Meet Nicky
Born and raised in Southern California, Nicky currently lives in San Diego with her two cats Chip & Dale. Nicky has a B.S. in Business Management from SDSU and is Stanford LEAD certified for corporate innovation. She works with companies and individuals to help elevate the human experience (body, mind, and spirit) into work, play, and life. She believes in balance among aspects and seeks to create environments where people feel safe to reflect, express, and grow.
Nicky has been practicing yoga for 10 years now; recently turning to teaching as a way to serve more people and her community. She has her RYT200 and is a L2 reiki certified practitioner. Her offerings focus on healing, transformations, cleaning out what no longer serves, and making room for more of what you want out of life. Seeing energy as real-life magic, she seeks to help bridge the gap between modern day life and the ancient practices of yoga, meditation, and reiki.

MODERN WORKING YOGI
During her college years, Nicky struggled with work/life balance. While stress and anxiety helped fuel her in high school, the adrenaline was not sustainable. The pressures of working a full-time job to be independent at 18, while keeping up with a full-time college schedule, began to wear her down. She began to experience severe anxiety and even panic attacks.
A friend recommended yoga, so she signed up for a gentle yoga class at her local studio. The class offered her body a safe space to relax, something she wasn’t much used to those days. The permission to rest, even if it was for 60 mins, was welcomed in her body and mind. The stillness and focus on breath calmed the persistent chatter in her mind. It started to allow for more clear focus both on and off the mat. Meditation and yoga became an integral part of her life. With dedicated practice and some necessary life changes she found more ease.
A couple years later, she took a fall while snowboarding and torn her rotator cuff. Despite completing physical therapy, she experienced chronic pain throughout her shoulder. While attending a vinyasa flow class, the instructor shared the healing touch of reiki. It was like the instructor knew exactly where to go. A blanket of warmth came over the site and the pain that had lingered for so long was gone. Nicky began to cry as she saw her aura light up a bright emerald green. This energy felt familiar, like something she had experienced before as a child. Something she had written off a long time ago but again it called to her – the connection to life force energy. This time, when it called, she followed.
The more she leaned into the ancient practice of yoga, meditation, and reiki, the more amazed she was with the body’s ability to heal itself. So, she set out on life-long journey to dive into the practices and share her learnings with the world in hopes it can offer the same healing and peace to others.
Thus, Modern Working Yogi was born.
